Clear Aligners for Teens
Clear Aligners for Teens
For teenagers and young adults, discreet orthodontic treatments provide an alternative to traditional orthodontics. Clear aligners are great for patients who want to avoid metal braces that can interfere with their social life, eating, athletics and playing instruments. Clear aligners are nearly invisible when worn and are also comfortable and easy to remove.
How Do Clear Aligners Work?
Aligners are custom-made to gradually move teeth into alignment. Each aligner is replaceable and is usually worn for about two weeks. Like traditional braces, we use clear aligners in Killeen, Texas, to fix a variety of orthodontic problems.
Pain and Soreness
Aligners are designed to feel more comfortable than traditional braces, with no wire or brackets to irritate the mouth. Some patients experience temporary, minor discomfort after switching out their aligner, though this should disappear after a day or two.
Caring for Clear Aligners
Dr. Rohini Singh recommends that patients wear their aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day. However, they can be removed for eating, drinking and cleaning. Patients can clean their custom aligners by simply brushing them with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
Treatment Time
Treatment can vary, though most patients need aligners anywhere from nine to 16 months. The best way to shorten treatment time is to wear and switch out the aligners as directed by our dentist.
