To avoid breaking brackets and wires, Dr. Rohini Singh will ask you to avoid certain foods. Generally, hard and sticky foods can cause damage to traditional braces, which means additional appointments with our dentist and longer overall treatment.
Foods to Avoid:
Sticky sweets, like caramel
Chewing gum
Hard candy and nuts
Chewy breads (bagels and rolls) and candy (licorice)
Overly crunchy snacks, like popcorn and chips
Whole apples, carrots and any others that can be difficult to bite into
Foods to Enjoy:
Soft grains and breads, such as rice, tortillas, sweetbreads and pasta
Milk, pudding and cheese
Easily chewable meat, such as fish, seafood, chicken or ground beef
Soft, nutritional fruits, such as bananas or ground applesauce
Softer, non-sticky sweets like ice cream and gelatin
Soft, cooked vegetables, like spinach or potatoes
