Dental sealants are highly effective at preventing tooth decay and the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Sealants are typically provided when the permanent molars begin to come in, though adults can also receive this treatment. Sealants consist of a tooth-colored resin, which is painted onto the tooth surface. This resin forms a smooth, protective coating which shields the tooth and works to “seal out” decay-causing plaque, bacteria, acids and food debris. Sealants can be applied in just a few minutes and last several years.

Dental cleanings are one of the most important services provided at our office. They help to keep your teeth free from decay and periodontal disease, and they help to maintain the health of your teeth, gums and supporting oral structures. Additionally, regular dental cleanings and exams allow our dentist to monitor your oral health for any developing problems and provide treatment before the issue becomes serious. You should receive a dental cleaning every six months.

Fluoride is a natural mineral and can be found in many foods. It is also added to many local water supplies. Fluoride works to strengthen and protect your teeth by “remineralizing” the tooth enamel. This helps your teeth protect themselves against cavities. Fluoride can be applied in just a few minutes in our office by our dentist or hygienist.

Scaling, root planing and periodontal maintenance are deep cleaning procedures used to remove plaque and tartar buildup under the gum line. This prevents gum disease from worsening and minimizes your risk of bone loss due to gum recession and loose teeth. These treatments are typically recommended if you have been diagnosed with periodontal disease. We will recommend a schedule of visits that will help to fight the disease and keep your mouth healthy.
